'The Voice' Season 4, Episode 1 Recap: Usher and Shakira judged to be good fit for judges’ table

Fellow judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine back in bromance form in return of NBC’s singing competition
Coaching vets, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were joined by two new music industry giants and international icons, Usher and Shakira.
And the show kicked off with quite the welcome -- all four performing the Beatles classic, "Come Together."
Energizing the crowd, the quad showed their respective talents before hitting the coach's chairs.
The new vibe was undoubtedly refreshing, although Usher and Shakira did have some big seats to fill replacing Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. But the newbies were ready to jump right in and get to work.
"They do have a little bit of an advantage because they've been in the show for so long," Shakira confessed to Usher backstage. "People know them already."
With his smooth demeanor Usher showed their experience didn't phase him, "You know what, they don't have the edge that we have," he told her.
She agreed adding, "These guys are jaded, we're fresh meat."
When Shelton caught the two strategizing, Usher quickly clued him in that "the strategy is to beat Adam," and asked the country singer, "You wanna join us?"
He immediately responded in his country twang, "Yes I do."
But before their backstage pow wow sans Adam Levine, the show's first contestants to hit the stage was something "The Voice" has never seen before.
Cara and Rhian Morgan, 27-year-old identical twin sisters from Rochester, New York. The Morgan sisters told a giddy Carson Daly backstage how as they get older they see their lives going in different directions.
"We don't want that to happen," they said in unison as the blood visibly rushed to Daly's cheeks.
Surprisingly, the blond bombshells took to the stage to perform a harmonious rendition of Alicia Keys' "Fallin.'" Immediately, the twins got the attention of all four coaches who spun their chairs around to see the image matched to the sound.
You could almost hear Shelton's eyes pop out of his head as he stared at the two beauties in tight red dresses and long blond tresses.
"Is this for real?" he asked. "This is a dream come true for most men."
While all the men wore dumbstruck smiles, Shakira was amazed to find there were two as she was confused by how similar their voices were.
After each coach pleaded their case, the twins chose Shelton even though they initially indicated they wanted to impress Usher.
"You're wife's gonna kill you man," Levine joked.
"I know," Shelton said, cheeks still ablaze.
Pretending to be Shelton explaining this to his wife, Levine said. "Yea Miranda, so I got these hot twins. Stop yelling, please don't divorce me!"
Considering the latest round of gossip magazine headlines concerning the state of Shelton and Miranda Lambert's marriage, the taped segment was remarkably ominous.
