Just like that new Cadillac Don Draper bought for himself, the promotion for the upcoming sixth season of AMC's "Mad Men" is shifting into high gear. AMC has released a new gallery of photos that look as if they were barrels of fun to shoot and may have either everything or nothing to do with the storylines the show will pursue when it premieres on April 7. The new photos were clearly taken on Elegance Day, with the characters almost all dressed in their finest evening clothes. Only the occasional goofy expression from Pete (Vince Kartheiser) suggests there could be some tongues in some cheeks here. Check out all the retro shots ...

Don Draper and Megan Draper

Just as a quick reminder of where things left off last year, we were waiting for Don Draper (Jon Hamm) to decide whether he should respond to a come-on from a blonde he just met in a bar. Since trophy wife Megan (Jessica Pare) is only a few hundred feet away, shooting a shoe commercial, there could be something riding on this decision – like whether we're going to start season six with the new faithful Don or the old horndog Don.

Peggy Olson

Peggy may be a wild card. Feeling stifled at the firm, she took an offer from a competitor, where she has more authority and has just been asked to work on a campaign for the new Virginia Slims cigarette. Still, her path seems destined to keep intersecting with her old crowd. When she went to the movies in last season's final episode, an old trick Don used to clear his mind, she ran into Don. It was an interesting conversation, in which he seemed to realize he now needed to regard her as the kid who had grown up, moved out and now has her own life.
